984,065. Castors. A. VAN DE WALLE. Nov. 6, 1963 [July 18, 1963], No. 43771/63. Heading A4U. A castor lockable against swivelling and rotation has a stirrup 1 pivoted to the wheelfork 20 and carrying a spring pawl 8 which engages a recess in a ring connected to the pivot 15 when the stirrup 1 is moved by means of a lever 3 to lock against swivelling. A rod 6 slideable within the swivel bearing engages a stirrup 12 and when thrust downwardly locks the wheel in a required direction by the engagement of a projection 2 with a toothed wheel 10 connected to pivot 15, the crosspiece 9 of stirrup 12 carrying as well as projection 2 a spring brake 17 which is made to contact the tyre of the wheel and stop rotation.
