Abstract

983,227. Electromagnets. JUNKERS & CO. G.m.b.H. Sept. 24, 1963 [Oct. 4, 1962], No. 37435/63. Heading H1P. The electromagnet for a thermo-electric ignition safety device is secured to support plate 25 by lip 41 which is swaged over a shoulder on core 24. A hollow contact stud 26 is mounted on plate 25 and insulated from it by washers 45, 46 and the connection to the coil made by wire 51 which is connected to the stud by soft soldering. The other coil connection is made to the frame by wire 54. Armature 22 is attached by rod 15 to the movable valve plate 12 which forms part of the gas control valve. In operation, when the burners are lit the current generated in a thermal probe produces sufficient current to hold the armature in contact with the electromagnet against the action of spring 16 and thus keeps the gas valve open. In order to light the burners the valve is manually opened by means of a pushbutton.
