Abstract

982,885. Ball joints. V. LANGEN. Jan. 23, 1964 [Jan. 29, 1963], No. 2999/64. Heading E2F. The ball and socket joint comprises a socket 1 and ball 3 mounted in a bearing cup of plastic material divided in two parts 2A, 2B around the equator of the ball, the cup being contained in a rigid sleeve 6 which is in turn surrounded by a resilient bush 7 pressed into the socket. The ends of the sleeve 10 and 10<SP>1</SP> are bent inwards and over the resilient rings 8, 9, the combination of the ball head, bearing cups, rings and sleeve forming a closed joint unit. The parts of the split bearing cup mesh in a tooth like manner around the equator of the ball.
