982,110. Electromedical apparatus. DYNAPOWER SYSTEMS CORPORATION. Feb. 21, 1963 [April 17, 1962], No. 6999/63. Heading A5R. A device for supporting an electrotherapeutic treatment head on a cabinet comprises an articulated arm assembly connected, by a joint 25 pivoted about a horizontal axis, to a post 14, which is pivotal about a vertical axis and supported in a sleeve 19 extending through the cabinet wall, an electrical lead 35 extending through the arms and joints of the assembly, which are hollow, the joints providing frictional resistance to relative movement of the parts of the assembly and including means for locking them against rotation and the post having a flange 21 which transmits the load of the assembly to the cabinet via the sleeve. The post 14, which is hollow, is rotatable through 180 degrees in the sleeve 19 fixed in the top of the cabinet. The joint 25 comprises coaxial cups 37, 36'fixed to. the post and a hollow arm 31 respectively, the cups engaging one another about their rims. A pin 41, coaxial with the cups, is threaded at one end to one cup 36 and connected at the other end to a handle 40, by which the pin may be tightened to lock the joint. When the joint is loosened, the cups are held in frictional engagement by a spring 45. A cable 35, interconnecting the head with electrical circuits in the cabinet, passes through the post, openings 46, 47 in the cups and the arm 31. The arm 31 is joined by a similar joint 32 to a second hollow arm. The head 12 is carried by a bracket 58, frictionally pivotally connected to a second bracket 56, a handle 71 for locking the joint so formed being provided. The second bracket is connected to a tubular insert 52 in the second arm, a spring 55 tightening the bracket against a plug 50 screwed in the end of the arm. The insert 52 and the brackets are frictionally rotatable relative to the plug 50 and the arm about an axis 30, which is perpendicular to the pivotal axis 29 of the brackets.
