Abstract

Polyfluoro-olefines of the formula RfCH = CF2, where Rf is F or perfluoroalkyl of 1-10 carbon atoms, are prepared by pyrolysing an acid RfCHFCF2COOH under sub-atmospheric pressure, substantially in the absence of an inert diluent. Examples prepare CF3CH = CF2; other products specified are CHF = CF2, CF3CF2CH = CF2CF3(CF2)3CH = CF2 and CF3(CF2)6CH = CF2.
