980,540. Slitting apparatus. JAGENBURG-WERKE A.G. Jan. 7, 1964 [Feb. 20, 1963], No. 690/64. Heading B4B. Apparatus for the longitudinal cutting or slitting of travelling webs includes circular cutters 1 co-operating with grooved cutting sleeves 6 each of which has a group of cutting grooves 5; the sleeves being arranged in pairs on the opposite sides of bearings 8 displaceable and adjustable transversely to the direction of travel of the paper web and several pairs of cutting sleeves being guided on and driven by a common shaft 10. Each of the pairs of sleeves is mounted on two discs 4 guided by their hubs on the driving shaft, to which discs the sleeves 6 are fastened by the clamping action of a ring 7. The holders 2 of the cutters 1 are adjustably movable transversely to the direction of paper travel on a cross-member 3, and the sleeves are similarly displaceable on a slide 11 by operation of a hand wheel 13. Control of the sleeves may be effected remotely by electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic individual drives and control systems.
