Abstract

Human air is simultaneously washed and dyed using a composition containing a dyestuff which fixes directly on to the hair, a detergent and n-propanol and/or iso-propanol. The composition may contain a thickener in such quantity that the composition is in the form of a thick viscous liquid and is particularly a 3% W/V aqueous dispersion of magnesium montmorillonite. The preferred detergent is an alkanolamine alkyl sulphate particularly monoethanolamine lauryl sulphate and the composition may contain one or more conditioners such as fatty acids. The specified dyes are acid, premetallized acid and disperse dyes. The composition advantageously also contains a minor proportion of acetic acid. The Provisional Specification refers to the treatment of keratinous fibres in general.ALSO:Human hair is dyed by applying an aqueous composition containing a dye which fixes directly on the fibres and which brings the fibres to the derived final colour without any simultaneous or subsequent chemical treatment and n-propanol and/or iso-propanol. The composition may contain a thickening agent in an amount such that the composition is in the form of a thick viscous liquid and may also contain a detergent. The preferred dyes are acid, premetallised acid or disperse dyes and the preferred thickening agent is magnesium montmorillonite. The composition may contain 4-15% of n- or iso-propanol and advantageously also contains acetic acid. The preferred detergent in monoethanolamine lauryl sulphate. Examples are given. The Provisional Specification refers to the dyeing of keratinous fibres in general.
