Abstract

979,048. Spinning and winding machines; bobbin applying and supplying and collecting means. W. REINERS. Jan.12, 1961 [Jan. 14, 1960], No. 1323/61. Headings D1D, D1F and D1J. Cops 7, from a spinning machine 1, Fig. 1, are carried automatically by a conveyer 3 to a multisation cross-wound package winding machine at a rate corresponding to the output of the winding machine. A first feeler 6 is used to set a conveyer belt 3 in motion when no cops are detected and a second feeler 11 is used to stop the winding machine if the supply of cops is insufficient. Winding machine; positioning cops. The cops 7 are received in supports 23 mounted on an endless belt 22, these supports having closure flaps 24, Fig. 2, at their lower ends. The belt 22 carries the cops past a number of troughs 25, one for each winding station, and should a trough 25 be empty the first support 23 to pass said trough supplies it with a cop. The transfer of a cop to a trough 25 is initiated by a sensing finger 30 associated with the trough interacting with the closure flap 24 on the support 23. The cop is positioned at a first stage in the trough 25 by a finger 26. When released by the finger 26, the cop slides down on to a peg 28 which is then rotated to lift the cop as well as a feed device 29 for the thread F into a position in which the thread end is joined by known means to that on a package 16 and in which the thread is then wound on to the package by means of a guide drum 15. Forming reserve coil on cops entering the winding machine. After passing the feeler 11 the cops 7 are pushed off a plate 41, Fig. 1 on to a pair of rollers 44, 45, that rotate alternately in opposite directions. Between the rollers 44, 45 is a suction pipe 46. The rollers 44, 45 are initially rotated in a direction to unwind the thread on the cop, the unwound thread passing into the suction pipe 46. After a predetermined period the direction of rotation is reversed so that the desired reserve coil is formed on the cop.
