Abstract
Blends of normally solid branched chain polymers of ethylene of density 0.910 to 0.970, which have been made by free-radical polymerization techniques, and polypropylene in an amount of 3 to 5% by weight of the blend, wherein the polypropylene has a melting point of at least 135 DEG C., a density of 0.870 to 0.920, and a heptane insoluble fraction of at least 70%, are used for coating wire and cables, and making shaped articles such as films and bottles. The polypropylene is made by using Ziegler-Natta type catalysts. The ethylene polymer may be polyethylene, or a copolymer of ethylene with the comonomers mentioned in Specifications 497,643, and 579,844, in particular copolymers of ethylene and vinyl acetate. Specifications 471,590 and 626,155 also are referred to.
