Abstract

<PICT:0977644/C6-C7/1> An anode basket to contain fragments of metal for plating consists of a foraminate titanium body enclosed in a filter bag with means for drawing the filter bag tightly around the titanium basket. This may be a tube of circular, oval, or rectangular cross-section, the bottom end being closed by welding the flattened edges together, and providing a plastic cap, or by welding on a titanium cup. The surrounding filter bag 12 is of fine weave textile material, e.g. polypropylene, the cut longitudinal edges of which are formed into an inverted box pleat 14, 17, having holes 20 at the edges through which a lace 21 is threaded to draw the lips of the pleat tightly together. The bottom has a double row of stitching 19 and is heat-sealed.
