Abstract

977,624. Ladders. F. D. CHISHOLM. Aug. 21, 1962 [Aug. 24, 1961], No. 30488/61. Heading A6L. A non-slip base for a ladder which allows the ladder to stand vertically on a gradient comprises two boxes 9, 10 each receiving the bottom of a ladder stile and independently slidable on a rod 5 on a channel 1 hinged at 3 on a channel 2, a screw and nut 4 adjusting the angle between the channels 1, 2. The boxes may be slid along the rod to take ladders of different widths. In a modification three walls of each box, i.e. all the walls except the wall adjacent the other box, are extended upwardly.
