Abstract

977,457. Developing electrophotographic images. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Dec. 12, 1961 [Dec. 22, 1960], No. 44512/61. Drawings to Specification. Heading G2H. Apparatus for developing electrostatic images comprises a container containing a supply of finely-divided developer particles, at least a portion of said container comprising porous material and means for removing the container and the image-bearing surface relative to each so that the said portion of the container is in contact and the image-bearing surface, the pores in said material being of sufficient size to allow the developer particle to be drawn through. Preferably the porous material is flexible and specified materials are cotton cloth and nylon. The developer apparatus may be moved over the exposed xerographic plate or the exposed plate may be moved by means of rollers under the developer apparatus. Means may be provided for stretching the porous plate and the contact pressure between the plate and the developer may be increased by placing a roller under the plate at the point of contact.
