976,940. Valves. KONINKLTJKE MASCHINENFABRIK GEBR. STORK & CO. N.V Nov. 23, 1962 [Nov. 27. 1961], No. 44363/62. Heading F2V. A non-return valve for use on the pressure side of a liquid pump has a pin 5 extending in the direction of movement of a closure 2 and having a portion of reduced cross-sectional area to open ports 11 leading to a bypass duct 7 when the closure 2 is seated. The pressure at the ports 11 also acts through a bore 14 in a space between the end of the pin and a nut 9 locked by a strip 10. A fixed throttle 12 is provided in the transfer duct 7 and the ports 11 are arranged in a helical series. The fluid-pressure forces acting on the pin 5 assist the spring 4 to a decreasing extent as the closure 2 opens and the pressure within the nut 9 is increased by the leftward end of the bore 14 approaching the mouth of the bush 6 in which the pin 5 slides.
