976,786. Priming circumferential-flow pumps. W. ZINDLER, [trading as LUMOPRINT ZINDLER KOMM.-GES.]. March 22, 1963 [April 3, 1962], No. 11496/63. Heading F1C. [Also in Division G2] A developing apparatus includes a liquid treatment bath and a reserve container connected together by a supply duct having a non-self-priming pump, such duct serving as a return conduit to the reservoir beneath the tank on stopping of the pump; the pump is located outside the reserve container and higher than the bottom thereof, and has a housing, the lower region of which form in the supply duct a downwardly closed container for the treatment liquid. In the embodiment shown a liquid treatment bath 6 is provided above a reservoir 29 and is connected thereto by pump means 20, 18 and ducts 23, 27, 24, 25. The lower part 3 of pump and bath housing 1 closes the container 28 for the reservoir 29 and has a latching device 31. During use, a hollow bulb of resilient material is put over pipe 25 and squeezed to draw liquid up from reservoir 29 into pump housing 18. The bulb is then removed and impeller 20 rotated by motor 17 to pump liquid from reservoir 29 to bath 6. A float-operated switch may be provided to stop the motor when the liquid in bath 6 has reached a required height. On stopping of the motor the liquid is siphoned out of tank 6 back to housing 18 and reservoir 29.
