Abstract
976,109. Thermoplastic resin containers. MONSANTO CHEMICALS Ltd. March 25, 1963 [May 9, 1962], No. 17792/62. Heading B8D. An open-topped container is formed on a ring, e.g. of cardboard or paper, over which a heated sheet of thermoplastic resin, e.g. foamed polyestrene, is applied by fluid pressure, the ring becoming an integral reinforcement in the container wall. In a modification, the ring is seated on a shallow spigot which thereby raises the level of the container base and may itself be retained as a reinforcement, Fig. 3 and 4 (not shown). The container may have an internal partition wall. The ring may be formed of aluminium, brass or steel, or of synthetic plastics. The sheet may be transparent and the wall of the ring decorated. Other examples of plastics materials suitable for the sheet are given. The container may be of rectangular horizontal cross-section.
