Abstract

956,167. Trays; food containers. OMEGA PLASTICS Ltd. Jan. 15, 1963 [Jan. 23, 1962], No. 2461/62. Heading A4A. [Also in Divisions B5, B8 and F4] A protective tray or container, e.g. in which a hot meal can be stored and served to airplane passengers for consumption directly from the tray, comprises a base 1 having recesses 3-11 in its surface and moulded in foamed plastic, and a liner of impermeable plastic sheet 12 which is vacuum- or pressure-formed, to a shape conforming with the recessed surface of the base, the liner being secured to the base by bonding. The base is made of polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride or polyurethane and has a rebate 2 to seat the flange 14 of a lid 13 of similar material to form an easily stackable rectangular block shape. The liner is preferably made of polyvinyl sheeting and is bonded to the base by adhesive.
