Abstract

Plants with shorter and thicker stems are obtained by applying to the soil or the leaves of the plants a compound of the formula R-N(CH3)3.Y where R is an alkyl group of 3 or 4 carbon atoms and Y is an inorganic or organic anion. R may be isopropyl, n-propyl or 2-methylpropyl and Y may be chloride. The compound may be added in aqueous solution or mixed with a carrier. Examples are given.
