Abstract

The compounds of formula <FORM:1032361/C2/1> where R1 is H or CH3, and one of R2 and R3 is isopropyl and the other is methyl, are prepared by treating 4-dimethylamino-thymol or -carvacrol with the appropriate methyl isocyanate or methyl carbamyl chloride. Claimed as novel are N-methyl-2-isopropyl-4-dimethylamino-5-methylphenyl carbamate and crystalline N-methyl - 2 - methyl - 4 - dimethylamino - 5-isopropylphenyl carbamate. The above compounds are insecticides (see Division A5).ALSO:Insecticidal compositions comprise a compound <FORM:1032361/A5-A6/1> where R1 is H or CH3 and one of R2 and R3 is isopropyl and the other is methyl, or a salt thereof, together with one or more wetting agents and/or solid diluents; plants and areas may be treated with a compound as above for the control of insects.
