975,145. Opening eggs. M. W. POL JANIC. Jan. 12, 1963, No. 1675/63. Heading A4R. An egg shell cutter comprises a handle 10 (Figs. 1 and 2) carrying an appropriately shaped egg-holder 18 formed with a transverse slot 30, a lever bar 34 pivoted, as at 35, to the handle 10 and carrying a cutter blade 44 which enters the slot 30 when the lever bar 34 is depressed, and a stop block 46 fixed to the lever bar 34 and limiting, by engagement with the upper surface of the egg-holder 18, the depth of cut through a waist portion 28 of the shell of an egg E held by hand in the egg-holder 18. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 5), the handle 51 is provided with a finger loop 52 and the lever bar 34<SP>1</SP> with a thumb loop 54. The cut is preferably confined to an arc corresponding to 120 degrees of the circumference of the egg.
