Abstract

974,684. Anglers' floats. E. J. DICKENS. June 20, 1963 [Aug. 27, 1962], No. 32760/62. Heading A1A. An angler's plastic float 10, Fig. 1, comprises an electric lamp 18 connected to a battery or cell 14 via a mercury switch which closes when the normallytilted float is moved by the tug of a fish towards an upright position. The mercury switch comprises a mercury drop 24 and two spaced contacts 23. The lamp 18 is held in a holder 17 connected to a conductor 16 integral with a coiled contact spring 15 which bears on a shoulder 12c of the float body 12 and which resiliently supports the cell 14. A cap 11, which is transparent or translucent or partially so and which may b e coloured, covers the lamp, and its rim is screwed into a thread 13 to abut a flange 17a of the lamp holder 17, removal of the cap 11 allowing removal of the battery 14, the switch and the lamp holder 17. The float may be secured to an angler's line by two resilient rings on the body and an eyelet hole 34.
