Abstract

A tobacco smoke filter comprises fibrous material containing triacetin and up to 4% by weight of diethylene glycol, 1: 2-propylene glycol, 1: 3-butylene glycol, or a mixture of these glycols. The fibres may be of cellulose acetate, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyglycol esters of terephthalic acid, polyamides, or polyacrylontrile. The proportion of triacetin is within the range 5 to 15% by weight, preferably 7 to 10%, and the triacetin and glycols are sprayed on to the fibre mass before the fibres are formed into a filter rod.
