A storage heating unit is controlled by means of a thermo-sensitive device 1 associated with a shaft 2 having three cams 3, 4, 5 which cooperate with switches 6, 7, 8 in series with three heating elements 9, 10, 11 of the storage heating unit. The device 1 is initially set to the temperature which the storage heater unit is to attain, which setting causes rotation of the shaft 2 to cause the cams to close the requisite number of switches. When the unit has attained the set temperature the device 1 operates to cause anti-clockwise movement of the shaft 2 whereby the switches 6, 7, 8 are returned to the open position. A time switch 14 is provided to ensure that the storage heater unit is charged during off-peak periods.
