782,505. Electric control systems. McGLASHEN, R. April 18, 1955 [April 21, 1954], No. 11456/54. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (4). In a control system for the power supply to a hot or cold storage installation for a building or the like, of the kind in which control is to some extent dependent on. outside temperature. and wherein power input to the installation is confined to " off-peak " periods of the power source by means of a time switch, the instant at which power supply commences after connection of the source by the time switch. is determined by a thermal switch, responsive to outside temperature and the setting of which is continuously advanced by a cam during the " off-peak " period. The commencement of power intake is thus delayed in relation to. the commencement of the " off-peak " period to an extent dependent upon the amount by which outside temperature differs from a predetermined -value, the delay being infinitely variable over a temperature range extending from the predetermined value. In order to synchronize the commencement of the delay period with the operation of the time switch, the cam may be driven by the same mechanism as drives the switch, or the cam may be driven by an electric motor which is controlled by the time switch.
