Abstract
The invention comprises derivatives of bis-dithiocarbamic acid which are obtained by oxidizing compounds of the formula <FORM:0973630/C1/1> in which R1 and R2 are hydrogen or alkyl radicals with 1 to 3 carbon atoms and R is a hydrogen or alkali metal atom or an ammonium radical, in aqueous solution at 0 DEG to 30 DEG C. with conventional oxidizing agents and treating the resulting product in the presence of water with inorganic salts containing oxygen or sulphur and capable of absorbing sulphur at temperatures between 30 DEG and 60 DEG C., desulphurization thereby taking place. The inorganic salt may be an alkali metal sulphite, alkali metal sulphide, ammonium sulphide alkali metal carbonate, alkali metal nitrite, used in amounts of 0.1 to 1.1 moles per mole of oxidation product. The oxidizing agent may be potassium ferricyanide, chlorine, potassium persulphate, ammonium persulphate, hydrogen peroxide, sulphuric acid. The structure of the compounds is not known. Specifications 751,750, 816,341 and 948,649 are referred to.ALSO:Fungicical compositions contain, as active ingredient, a derivative of bisdithiocarbamic acid obtained by oxidizing compounds of the formula <FORM:0973630/A5-A6/1> in which R1 and R2 are hydrogen or alkyl groups with 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and R is a hydrogen or alkali metal atom or an ammonium radical, with conventional oxidizing agents and then heating the product with an inorganic salt containing oxygen or sulphur, capable of absorbing sulphur, whereby desulphurization occurs. The compounds are mixed with solid or liquid carriers or diluents. These include solvents, e.g. aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbons, paraffins, alcohols, amines and water; carriers, e.g. ground natural minerals, ground synthetic minerals; emulsifying agents, e.g. non-ionic or anionic emulsifiers; dispersing agents, e.g. lignin, spent sulphite liquor, methyl cellulose. They may also be mixed with other fungicides and/or insecticides, and are used in amounts between 0.1 and 95%, by weight. Specified forms are emulsifiable concentrates, powders, pastes, wettable powders and granulates. Specifications 751,750, 816,341 and 948,649 are referred to.
