Abstract

A non-corrosive and non-foaming water-soluble composition for addition to the wash water in a paint spray booth contains, by weight, 3-20 parts of tannin, 30-80 parts of an acid, and 30-50 parts of sodium chloride or calcium chloride or a mixture thereof. The acid may be sulphamic, citric, tartaric, sulphuric, hydrochloride or phosphoric. The composition may also contain anti-foaming agents, e.g. cyclohexanol, and corrosion inhibitors such as substituted thioureas. The composition may be added to the wash water to form an amount of 0,1-1,0% by weight thereof.
