972,579. Trailer mounted jib cranes. STEELS ENGINEERING PRODUCTS Ltd. April 30 1962 [May 9, 1961], No. 16770/61. Heading B8B. A jib crane 11 mounted on a trailer 16 is counterbalanced by the full weight of a towing vehicle 10 by being attached thereto by a jib 12 in addition to a towing point 25. The jib 12 is mounted on the towing vehicle forward of the rear axle 26 and is attached to the jib 11 by a pin-and-slot connection 13, 23 to avoid compressive strains. When not in use the crane is towed by an eye 19 at the tip of the jib 11. The jib 11 is raised into operative position by the jib 12 and the connection 25 is then made. Any rigid or flexible tie means may replace the jib 12.
