The means for driving an endless belt or other conveyer 3 mounted on a trailer vehicle platform 2, together with an auxiliary conveying device such as the rotary feeder 26 or a laterally conveying belt at one end thereof (not shown), comprises a transmission system drivable by a drive shaft on a towing tractor and connectable thereto at either end of the platform, the arrangement fulfilling the condition that no matter to which end the drive shaft is connected a predetermined sense of rotation of the drive shaft always drives the conveyers in the same direction relative to the trailer platform. The output shaft of the said transmission system operates the conveyer drive 6 (see Fig. 1) and is itself driven by gearing to one member 5 of which it is connected. As shown, the gears are bevel gears, but they may be worms. In either case gear element 5 may be driven by either of two gear elements attached to shafts 4 and 4a themselves drivable from opposite ends of the platform and by the arrangement shown satisfying the required condition. Thus, the conveyer 3 always. delivers to the same end of the platform 2 and, in order that the unloading point may be at either end of the trailer chassis, the platform is rotatable on the chassis about a central vertical bearing axis and may be secured to the chassis in either of two positions 180 degrees apart by suitably positioned peg-and socket locking members 7, 8. An auxiliary conveyer 53, Fig. 10 (not shown), separate from the trailer, may be coupled with the conveyers on the trailer and arranged to receive the material discharged therefrom.
