Abstract

A method of storing pipes in the hold (8) of a vessel (1, Figs 1 and 2) includes: arranging at least two U shaped cradle frames (9) for the disposition of a number of pipes to lie on and between said cradle frames (9), locating a number of pipes on and between said cradle frames (9), securing said pipes to said cradle frames (9) so as to form a storage bundle; and lifting said storage bundle into the hold of a vessel and locating it with respect to other storage bundles. The cradle frames (9) have inter-engageable locating means (13, 14, 18, 19), so that the storage bundles can be stored on top of each other in a stack. Preferably, a skip (20, Figs 4 and 5) is used to hold the cradle frames in position for stacking one on a further one. To assist in positioning the frames in the skips, a loading jig (30, Fig 7) may be used.
