Abstract
972,080. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. K. G. BRUCE. May 26,1961 [May 27, 1960], No. 19031/61. Heading G3P. A servomotor 1 for operating, e.g., the blades of a variable-pitch ship's propeller is fed by a relatively small capacity pump A1 and a larger capacity pump or pumps A2, A3, each pump having a non-return valve 8, a relief valve 9 and a servomotor control valve C1, C2, C3 connected to an intermediate point of a floating lever 16 connected at one end to the servomotor and at the other end to a manual control and/or a governor &c. When the valves C1, C2, C3 are in their neutral positions the pumps A2, A3 are unloaded by connection of their delivery conduits to a sump 5 but the pump A1 is not unloaded so that it is held in readiness for operation of the servomotor. The valves C1, C2,C3 are so dimensioned that when they are operated the pumps are brought into action successively.
