Abstract

971,739. Amplifiers. A. C. COSSOR Ltd. Sept. 10, 1963 [Sept. 10, 1962], No. 34592/62. Heading H3W. The invention relates to a direct-coupled amplifier in which loss of gain at very low frequencies is compensated by means of a positive feed-back network comprising terminals 13, 14 connected to the amplifier output and 28, 29 connected to the input, and formed of series resistors 18, 19, 21, 22, shunt variable resistor 17 and shunt capacitors 24-27. Such an arrangement gives excessive gain at the lowest frequencies so that if a D.C. input is applied the gain and hence output increase after a time interval; in accordance with the invention this is prevented by shunting the resistor 17 by a network comprising thermistors 10, 11 which are biased from a D.C. source (not shown) via resistors 32, 33 and adjustable resistors 12, 31. Alternatively, the positive feed-back path could be shunted with a second, negative feedback path including a phase reverser and a suitable R.C. network.
