Abstract

971,067. Railway point heaters. CLEVELAND TECHNICAL CENTER Inc. July 17, 1963 [Sept. 11, 1962], No. 28268/63. Heading E1G. A railway point heating 20 means is supported for movement with the point blade 13 and has means 27 for reflecting the heat on to the blade. A heating element 37, which may be electric infra-red lamps, quartz tubes, or metal rods or gas infrared heaters, and its associated reflector 27 is pivotably clamped to a tube 21 secured through rubber grommets 23, 24 to the blade 13 and to the spacer rod 18 through which the blades 13, 14 are operated. The reflector 27 is arranged to direct the heat on to the blade and to pivot about the tube 21 for maintenance purposes.
