Movement of a weighbeam 1 from its zero position 20 to the position of equilibrium 21 is transmitted by a link 2 to one arm of a rocking lever 3 whose second arm has a toothed segment 4 and whose third arm has a weight 15. A gear-wheel 5, keyed to a shaft 19, therefore rotates through one revolution and drives a disc 7, which is rotatable on the shaft 19, through inter-meshing radial teeth 6, 9. An aperture 18 in the disc (shown displaced through 180 degrees for clarity) is thus brought opposite a lamp 13 and a photo-cell 14 operates to stop the supply of weighed material. Before the scales are emptied the disc 7 is secured against rotation by radial teeth 8 thereon being brought into engagement with a fixed projection 12 by the movement of a two-armed lever 16 due to the operation of an electromagnet 17. If there is excess weight the weighbeam rises further and the disc 7, at the next weighing operation, rotates through a less distance with the result that the supply of material is stopped sooner and the preceding error corrected. After the scale has been emptied the electromagnet 17 is de-energized by the operator and a spring 10 returns the disc 7 into engagement with the gear-wheel 5.
