Abstract

A dry lubricant is prepared by treating powdered MoS2 with a mixture of stearic acid and a stearate in a solvent which does not react with MoS2, filtering and drying. The stearate may be sodium stearate, and the solvent a mixture of chloroform and methyl alcohol.ALSO:A dry lubricant comprises powdered molybdenum disulphide which has been treated with a mixture of stearic acid and a stearate in a solvent which does not react with molybdenum disulphide, filtered and dried. The stearate may be sodium stearate and the solvent a mixture of chloroform and methyl alcohol.
