The cover 1, Fig. 1, for a vacuum casting chamber has means, e.g. grooves 2, 3, for mounting sealing members of different sizes to accommodate ladles of different diameters. In a modification, Fig. 2, the cover has a means 8 on which the largest diameter ladle may be seated, and a smaller diameter ladle is accommodated by the use of an apertured plate 10 which seats on the annulus 8 and has sealing means 11 on which the ladle seats.
