Abstract
970,050. Making mouthpiece cigarettes. K. KORBER. Jan. 26, 1961 [Feb. 4, 1960; May 31, 1960], No, 3077/61. Heading A2C. A rotary device 1, Fig. 1, on which connector sheets are rolled around groups of aligned cigarettes and filters is provided with a resiliently mounted counter-rolling member 23. In Fig. 1 the member 23 is a pivoted lever loaded by an adjustable spring 30. The roller 1 is provided with retractable fins 7 against which the assemblages are held when rolling is completed. The fins 7 are actuated as described in Specification 912,979. In Fig. 2 the counter-rolling device confines a stationary member 102 with a rolling surface 107 and a subsidiary rolling member 106 carried by a pivoted lever 104 loaded by a spring 111. The lever 104 is actuated by a ratchet-like device 109 the teeth of which hold the member 106 away from their operative position until an assemblage reaches rolling position, when the lever 104 is released to bear resiliently on the assemblage. The assemblages G with flat connected sheets attached are conveyed by a drum 119 having pins 121 which hold the trailing ends of the sheets flat against a guide 122 until the assemblages are transferred to the rolling drum 101 which has suction orifices 116 which hold the connector sheets flat until rolling position is reached. The orifices 116 decrease in size from the leading to the trailing end of the sheet.
