A high heel, or a supporting base 1 which constitutes the lower portion of a high heel and is rigidly connected thereto, has a first cavity 5 which receives a stud 6 and which communicates with a further cavity extending through a lateral wall of the heel or base, the further cavity allowing for the insertion of a tool for removing the stud. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 the base 1 has a projection 3 fitting into a hole in the wooden heel 2, and the further cavity comprises a front vertical slot 8 through which the tool 9 is inserted. This slot may extend to the lower part of the base, as shown, or may terminate short thereof. If a nail is driven through the assembly 7, 6, the latter bulges slightly into slot 8 and prevents rotation of the assembly. In a further embodiment the base has an extension with eccentric rollers and longitudinal splines which is embedded in a plastic heel body. In the construction shown in Fig. 4 the further cavity comprises an oblique bore 16 into which the bent end 17 of the extractor is inserted.
