[Also in Division G2] Apparatus for drying photographic prints comprises a clamping frame 5, Fig. 1, with a drying cloth 4 adapted to be pivoted on a dry. plate 3 with an upper, mirror-finished surface, wherein the clamping frame is pivotally connected at 6a to the supporting frame 6 holding the dry-plate and adapted to be movable with the latter from a heating surface or unit 2 and to be locked to the supporting frame 6 by a lock (not shown) in the lowered position which is opened automatically by a time switch 15. The supporting frame 6 is slidable on spring- urged, vertical posts 7 on the main frame 1 of the apparatus, which posts are connected by linkages to a foot pedal 9 so as simultaneously to draw down the post and hence the dry-plate on to the heating surface. Guide rails 16 which extend along both sides of the frame 1 and are carried by the posts 7, each mount a carriage 17 forming the bearing of a pressure roller or squeegee 18 driven by a crank 20 or motor over the dry-plate and drying cloth. In a modification, Fig. 2, the dry plate and supporting frame pivot relative to the heating surface and do not remain parallel thereto. The support frame 106 is mounted on a horizontal shaft 122 pivotally connected to the main frame 101 on an axis parallel to the axis 106a of the clamping frame 105 and is spaced from the heating surface 102 of the drier. The supporting frame is moved by the pedal 109 via a spring-urged linkage and vertical rods 123, a time switch 115 acting through a looking member 115a on an arm 108 of the pedal to retain it in depressed position.
