Abstract

Polymers of olefins of at least three carbon atoms are stabilized with an alkylphenyl salicylate (e.g. n-octylphenyl salicylate) + a phenolic compound selected from 2,4,6-trialkylphenols, alkylidene-bis (alkylphenols), 2 (21-hydroxyphenyl)-2,4,4-polyalkyl chromans, 4 (21-hydroxyphenyl)-2,2,4-polyalkylchromans, and adducts of alkylphenols with terpenes. Polymers specified are those of propylene, butene, pentene, 3-methylbutene and 4-methylpentene. Optional ingredients are solvents (benzene, hexane), pigments (Monastral Blue, cadmium sulphide), calcium stearate and dilauryl thiodipropionate.
