968,117. Hydraulic apparatus. W. E. & F. DOBSON Ltd. Nov. 30, 1962 [Dec. 6, 1961], No. 43631/61. Heading F1P. [Also in Division E1] In a mine roof support having hydraulic pit props incorporating support units 1, 2 interconnected by hydraulic means to obtain advance of each unit 1, 2 in turn when released from the roof and while the other unit 2, 1 is supporting the roof, embodying a horizontal cylinder-and-ram device of the push-and-pull type in each unit 1, 2 and a direct push-pull connection between the operative members of the two devices the desired sequence of movements is obtained by means of an hydraulic circuit including four control valves 22, 23, 24 and 25, operated at suitable times and interconnected through a block 26. The block 26 is connected to a fluid source by lines F, R and to another similar support by lines F1, R1, and has lines C, C1 to valve 24, C2, C3 to valve 23, and C, C4 to both valves 23 and 25. Valves 22 and 23 are connected to operate props 4, 5 and 7, 8, respectively, whereas valves 24, 25 are connected to operate cylinder 11 with the ram 12 of the unit 1 and cylinder 15 with the ram 16 of the unit 2, respectively.
