[Also in Division F2] A slotted bolt is formed from a strip of metal or resilient material bent to U-shape and providing parallel limbs 2 having longitudinal edges 3 on which screw-threads are cut. Prior to bending the strip concavities 1 are pressed on the end of each limb 2 so that adjacent surfaces of the limbs are convex and the longitudinal edges 3 are equidistant from the axis. When used with a conventional nut the limbs may be splayed to prevent removal of the nut. The space between the legs of the central portion 6 may serve to house a tommy-bar and a space between the screw-threaded portions of the legs to locate a structural member. The screw may be self-tapping.
