A bulk liquid vehichle transporter for milk comprises a tank fixed to the chassis of the vehicle, in which tank there is a partial vacuum sufficient to draw liquid from a vat fixed to the vehicle on a lower level than the tank and the vat has a mixing paddle and means for sampling the liquid therein. A motor driven pump J provides the vacuum in the tank A and in a sampling device N. A moisture trap G prevents condensation entering the pump and a switch R allows a sample of the milk to be drawn off into the container of the sampling device N. When the vacuum in the tank A is at the correct level a ball valve in the vat is opened to allow the liquid to flow therefrom. An electrically operated valve V controls the system automatically by connecting the pump to a pipe F4 when the vacuum in the tank A reaches its maximum level. A system of lights (Fig. 7, not shown) indicates the state of the vacuum. If the milk churns are too heavy to be loaded directly on the vat for emptying, a suction assembly 29 may be connected to the churn. The assembly 29 has provision for restricting the liquid flow as the churn empties to prevent large quantities of air entering the tank A. When a control handle 30 is unscrewed, air enters the tank A to facilitate emptying through a tap A3, which is opened by the handle 30.
