1470874 Handling liquids VITCO PATENS AG 30 July 1974 [7 Aug 1973] 33620/74 Heading A4T A unit for treating and feeding e.g. water comprises a circuit including a flow control device 11, at least one electrically operated valve 12, 13 for opening and closing the circuit and a collecting tank 34 with discharging means 21 for the treated water. Water enters through a union 8 and manually operable valve 5 and flows through the device 11 and valves 12, 13 to be discharged into a treating element 18, e.g. for dechlorination, lime removal, desulphurization or deodorization. The treated liquid flows through a peripheral space around the element 18 to a tube 22 which conducts it to a collecting tank 34, where it is retained until discharged through a coupling 21. The tank 34 has a switch (25), Fig. 1 (not shown), controlled by a float (24) for closing the valves 12, 13 when the tank level reaches a predetermined upper limit, and a further float (26) is operable to prevent discharge or provide an indication when the level falls below a predetermined figure. To maintain uniform pressure within the tank 34 a first single-acting valve allows air to escape during filling, while a second such valve 31, provided with an air filter 30, allows air to enter during discharge.
