Abstract

A fibrous fleece comprises regenerated cellulose fibres, consolidated by fusing, and having had incorporated therein during consolidation by treating with an alkali lye, natural or artificial elastically resilient fibres. Specified elastically resilient fibres are wool, hair and sisal or coir, preferably curled. Synthetic thermoplastic fibres are mentioned. The resilient fibres may account for 40% by weight of the fibre content, and the lye, which may be at a temperature of -5 DEG C. to 30 DEG C., may be a 5% to 20% by volume soda lye, and may include a wetting agent, e.g. polyethylene glycol.
