Abstract

966,506. Two-part couplings; plug-boards. CAMBRIDGE THERMIONIC CORPORATION. March 6, 1962 [March 7, 1961], No. 8555/62. Heading H2E. A patch panel connector for a computer comprises rows of resilient sockets 30 riveted to a fixed panel 2, and corresponding rows of double-ended contacts 20 mounted on a detachable panel 1 which can be slid into a frame, Fig. 5 (not shown) and moved into engagement with the fixed panel by a handle operated eccentric, Fig. 7 (not shown). Guard pins 5 at each corner of the panel 1 prevent the contacts from touching whilst the movable panel is being loaded into the frame, they are accommodated in holes in the fixed panel when the two parts engage. The mechanical alignment is ensured by pins 11 and 12 and bushes 10, 13. The flange of bush 13 is partly cut away at 42 to facilitate insertion of the pin.
