Abstract
An antimicrobial solution comprises a solution of an alkali metal salt of 3,41,5-tribromosalicylanilide in a mixture of water and an alkanol or hydroxyalkyl amine in which the alkyl groups contain 1 to 3 carbon atoms. Specified alcohols and amines are methyl, ethyl, propyl and isopropyl alcohol and triethanolamine. Specified 3,41,5-tribromosalicylanilide salts are the sodium and potassium salts. The solution preferably has a pH of 12-13.
