965,063. Kallikrein-inactivators. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. Feb. 6, 1963 [Feb. 19, 1962], No. 4835/63. Heading A5B. The sparingly,- water-soluble reaction product of the kallikrein-inactivator with metaphosphoric acid is produced by reacting the kallikrein-inactivator in aqueous solution with metaphosphoric acid and recovering the precipitate. Alternatively, a water-soluble salt of metaphosphoric acid, e.g. the alkali metal or ammonium salt may be used, in which case the desired compound is obtained by acidification and separation of the precipitate. Crude kallikrein-inactivator may be purified by treating an aqueous solution with metaphosphoric acid, separating the precipitate, dissolving the precipitate in an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide or a salt thereof, and passing the solution so formed through an ion-exchange column containing a mixed anion and cation exchange resin and recovering the purified kallikreininactivator. Alternatively, the solution may be passed through an anionic exchange resin and then through a cationic exchange resin or may be dialysed to remove the inorganic salts. The kallikrein-inactivator metaphosphoric acid derivative may be injected. Specification 886,989 is referred to.
