An inflatable pad or cushion having chambers alternately inflatable and deflatable and constructed by heat-sealing two layers 10, 11 of polyvinylchloride sheeting has a first header tube 1 in communication with one end of a series of transverse chambers 2 and a second header tube 3 in communication with one end of a second series of chambers 4, there being a gap 5 between neighbouring tubes so that the tubes are secured to the cushion assembly only at their ends.
