Abstract

A sprinkler valve comprises an inlet member 4, a helical member 10 for receiving fluid from the inlet member, a mixing chamber 14 for receiving fluid from the helical member, a Venturi chamber 16 communicating with the mixing chamber and a distribution plate 21 disposed at a distance from the Venturi chamber to disperse the fluid. The helical member 10 comprises two worms 13, starting diametrically opposite one another and each making half a turn. A cylindrical outer member 17 extends to form a spreading chamber 18, communicating with a space 19 which communicates with the outside through passages 20. The distributor plate is a disc held on the end of a post 22 and formed with baffle blades twisted at an angle to the plan of the plate of about 30 degrees. Fluid enters at the inlet and is rotated while passing through the helical member 10, and it leaves the chamber 14 and passes through the Venturi 16 still rotating. A slight vacuum is created at the extreme end of the Venturi which draws in air through the passages 20. The liquid thus aerated expands into the spreading chamber 18 and is forced downwards on to the radial baffle blades and distributed.
