Abstract
A preparation for combating worms in domestic animals or humans comprises one or more phenazines of general formula <FORM:0963998/A5-A6/1> being a derivative of phenazine or N,N-dihydrophenazine or a monobenzhomologue of such compound, or an acid addition salt of such compound or being homologue, in which formula X and/or Y are hydrogen, 1 to 6 C alkyl, a halogen substituted or unsubstituted phenyl or an oxygen atom; R is hydrogen (except where n and m both have the value O), halogen, cyano, nitro, carboxymethylthio, 1 to 6 C alkyl and n and m are 0 or 1; mixed with, or dissolved or dispersed in an inert, non-toxic, solid or liquid pharmaceutical carrier. Typical salts are the oxalate, citrate and dihydrochloride. Typical compounds are the cyano-5-alkyl-N,N1-dihydro - phenazines, 1 - chloro - phenazine, 1,2 - benzo - phenazine, 2 - methyl - phenazine, 2 - carboxymethylthio - phenazine, 1 - nitro - phenazine, phenazine - 5 - oxide, 2 - chlorophenazine - 5 - oxide, 2 - chloro - phenazine - 5,10-dioxide, N,N1 - dihydro - 2,3 - benzo - phenazine and 2 - cyano - 10 - methyl - N,N1 - dihydrophenazine. The compounds may be put up in the form of tablets, dragees, powders, capsules, granules, aqueous suspensions for injection containing wetting agents and aerosols. The oral preparations may be added to the food or drinking water.
