[Also in Division H1] Prior to the sealing of an electric lamp bulb on to the bulb foot, the interior of the flange of the latter is marked to facilitate later fitting of the cap in the proper position relative to the electrodes. An applicator 4 consists of a pair of rubber fingers 22 carried between clamping plates 21 on the end of a shaft 5. This shaft is mounted at its other end in a U-bracket 6 carried by a rotatable sleeve 7 adapted to be rocked between horizontal and vertical positions (Figs. 3 and 1 respectively). Shaft 5 can be rotated about its own axis by bevel gearing 11 to rotate the applicator. The machine carries a paint container 2 into which dips a rotating disc 15 contacted by the applicator when in vertical position, a doctor blade cooperating with the disc. After marking, the applicator is swung to vertical position and rotated through 270 degrees in contact with disc 15 to pick up paint. It is then swung down to stop with one finger in a presented bulb foot (Fig. 4) and one outside. It is then rotated through 45 degrees so that the fingers put radial paint marks on opposite parts of the flange. Specification 961,928 is referred to.
